Torsional load testing of the body-in-white (BIW) is a key step in evaluating vehicle structural stiffness, typically used to verify the deformation behavior of the body under torsional stress. By applying torsional loads and measuring strain and displacement at different locations of the body, the test assesses the structural stiffness and overall stability of the vehicle body.
In an actual vehicle torsional load test, the Haytham binocular 3D visual strain gauge performed high-precision 3D strain measurement at multiple key points on the body, helping the engineering team identify stress concentration regions in the body structure under specific torsional load conditions. Based on these data, engineers optimized the body structure design, enhancing the vehicle's torsional stiffness and ultimately improving overall vehicle safety and driving stability.
1. High-precision non-contact measurement: The strain gauge requires no strain gauges bonded to the body surface; through non-contact optical measurement, it captures subtle body deformation with high precision. This is especially critical for the fine strains and localized deformation that may arise under torsional loads, enabling more accurate assessment of body stiffness.

2. Full-field 3D measurement: In vehicle torsional load testing, the Haytham binocular 3D visual strain gauge simultaneously measures the 3D displacement and strain distribution of every part of the body-in-white. Compared with conventional point measurement, binocular 3D vision technology captures real-time deformation data of the body surface throughout the test, avoiding the limitations of relying on a single measuring point.

3. Real-time data processing and analysis: The powerful data processing software of the Haytham binocular 3D visual strain gauge generates strain distribution maps and displacement fields of the body surface in real time, helping engineers quickly locate the key regions of stress concentration and deformation during twisting. This rapid feedback mechanism significantly shortens test and analysis cycles.
4. Dynamic deformation monitoring: In vehicle torsional load testing, body deformation varies dynamically. The binocular 3D visual strain gauge continuously monitors and records strain variations of the body throughout loading, providing comprehensive dynamic response data that are vital for analyzing the structural performance of the vehicle under actual operating conditions.
