Parallel lap-welded structures are common in engineering joints, where the stress state of the lap region and the weld quality directly affect the load-bearing capacity of the component. Under tensile or shear loading, customers are concerned with questions such as: does local strain concentration appear in the lap region, is deformation near the weld uniform, and does failure initiate at weak points of the joint?

Owing to geometric discontinuities and material property variations in parallel lap joints, localized deformation concentration tends to occur during loading. Conventional single-point measurement reflects strain changes only at individual positions, making it difficult to assess the overall stress state of the lap region and to analyze the influence of the welding process on structural performance.
Based on DIC vision measurement technology, Haytham provides a non-contact full-field measurement solution for strain measurement of parallel lap-welded joints. Through image acquisition and algorithmic computation, the system outputs the displacement and strain fields on the lap region surface in real time, helping customers intuitively observe the deformation distribution during loading.
Using full-field strain results, R&D and testing personnel can determine whether strain concentration exists in the weld region, analyze the load transfer path of the lap joint, and evaluate how different welding parameters affect load-bearing performance and failure modes.
Without contacting the specimen or affecting the loading state, the solution is suitable for process verification, quality evaluation, and failure analysis of parallel lap-welded structures. Compared with single-point data, full-field measurement presents the entire process of a welded structure from loading to failure more completely.
