Tire Compression Deformation Test

Digital image correlation (DIC)Tire compression strain

In compression testing of automotive tires, precisely capturing and analyzing tire deformation under load is essential for performance optimization and safety improvement. However, conventional measurement methods have many limitations and cannot fully reflect the true deformation of a tire under compression. The monocular 3D visual strain gauge from Haytham Technology, based on monocular 3D DIC (digital image correlation) technology, offers a brand-new solution.

1. Limitations of Conventional Measurement Methods

In conventional tire compression tests, common measurement approaches mainly include contact sensor measurement and marker tracking. In practice, these methods face the following challenges:

1. Limited data accuracy: Contact sensors touch the tire surface directly and may affect the tire's true deformation behavior, reducing the accuracy of the measurement data.

2. Complex marker placement: Markers must be placed precisely on the tire surface; the process is cumbersome and easily affected by the test environment and the tire's dynamic deformation, causing markers to be lost or displaced.

3. Limited measuring range: Conventional methods usually capture deformation data at only a few points on the tire surface, making it difficult to reflect the overall deformation state of the tire and failing to meet the needs of comprehensive analysis.

2. Advantages of the Haytham Monocular 3D Visual Strain Gauge

Based on advanced monocular 3D DIC technology, the Haytham monocular 3D visual strain gauge has transformed the measurement approach of tire compression testing, delivering unprecedented advantages:

1. Non-contact full-field measurement:With a speckle pattern applied to the tire surface, the Haytham monocular 3D visual strain gauge captures images of the surface and uses DIC algorithms to compute full-field 3D deformation data of the compressed tire in real time, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of test data.

2. High-precision deformation analysis: The Haytham instrument captures minute deformation details with measurement accuracy far higher than conventional contact sensors, fully reflecting the subtle deformation of the tire under high pressure and providing more detailed data support.

3. Efficient and convenient: Compared with conventional methods, the Haytham monocular 3D visual strain gauge is simpler to operate, requires no cumbersome marker placement, greatly shortens test preparation time, and improves testing efficiency.

4. Comprehensive tire surface strain data: The instrument acquires strain data across the entire tire surface for all-around deformation analysis, providing comprehensive data support for tire design, performance evaluation, and quality control.
