Biaxial Tensile DIC Test Case of Composite Film

DIC technologyDigital image correlation

With the rapid development of new energy vehicles, battery safety and durability have become focal concerns. Composite films are widely used in battery packaging for their good mechanical properties and weather resistance, playing an important role in encapsulating and protecting batteries. Biaxial tensile testing of such film materials helps evaluate their deformation capability and stability in real application environments.

1. Test Plan

This biaxial tensile test of the composite film employed the Haythammonocular 3D DIC high-speed visual strain gauge. Unlike conventional DIC systems, this system completes high-speed testing with just one set of high-speed camera and lens, greatly simplifying the equipment configuration while lowering the overall cost.

2. Test Procedure

Specimen preparation:Speckle and marker points were sprayed on the film surface to facilitate identification of deformation regions.

Tensile testing:Biaxial tensile loading was applied to the film to simulate the stress distribution under actual working conditions.

Data acquisition:The high-speed camera recorded the deformation process of the film in real time, while the monocular 3D DIC system precisely analyzed full-field strain and multi-point displacement.

Results output:The system generated strain-time and displacement-time curves, providing data support for optimizing the mechanical performance of the film.

3. Advantages of the Haytham Monocular 3D DIC Solution

Simplified configuration, lower cost:Only a single camera and lens are required, avoiding the synchronization and calibration issues of binocular systems and reducing equipment complexity and cost.

Efficient testing:High-speed data acquisition meets dynamic testing needs and is especially suitable for deformation testing of flexible materials such as composite films.

Non-contact strain measurement:It eliminates the wiring requirements and measuring-point limitations of conventional sensors, enabling richer multi-point data acquisition.

4. Application Results

In this test, with its efficient non-contact measurement, the Haytham monocular 3D DIC system provided detailed deformation data for biaxial tension of the composite film, helping engineers fully understand the material performance. Compared with conventional methods, the system is easy to operate and delivers accurate data, earning high recognition from the customer.
