Full-Field Strain Test of Laser Oral Irrigator Assembly

High-speed dynamic testingHigh-speed camera

As a precision medical device, the laser oral irrigator is subject to various external forces during installation and operation, such as vibration and thermal expansion and contraction. These forces may cause slight deformation of the device, which in turn affects its performance and service life. To ensure the stability and reliability of the laser oral irrigator under various working conditions, full-field strain testing is essential. However, due to the complex structure and small size of the device, traditional strain measurement methods have significant limitations in accuracy and coverage.

Solution:

To address the structural deformation problems that the laser oral irrigator may face during installation, we adopted the Haytham monocular 3D high-speed visual strain gauge for full-field strain testing. Based on monocular 3D DIC (digital image correlation) technology, the device captures the 3D displacement field and strain field on the device surface through a high-speed camera, achieving high-precision measurement of minute deformations without contacting the device surface.

Implementation details:

During the test, the Haytham monocular 3D high-speed visual strain gauge was set up at the key installation locations of the laser oral irrigator, recording the dynamic strain changes of the device during installation through the high-speed camera. Since the device adopts monocular 3D imaging technology, no complex optical adjustment is required; a single high-speed camera is sufficient to achieve full-field measurement of the entire device surface.

At the start of the test, the initial static state of the device was recorded, and then the installation process of the laser oral irrigator in its actual working environment was simulated, including external forces such as vibration and torsion. The high-speed camera captured the surface deformation of the device at different time points at an extremely high frame rate, and the 3D strain data of each point on the device surface were computed through DIC algorithms. These data cover all the strain changes that may occur during installation, ensuring comprehensive analysis with no blind spots.

Test outcomes:

With the application of the Haytham monocular 3D high-speed visual strain gauge, we successfully obtained detailed strain distribution maps of the laser oral irrigator during installation. The test results show that when the device is subjected to specific external forces, unexpected stress concentration occurs at certain key locations, providing a scientific basis for improving the design and installation process. Based on these data, the engineering team was able to quickly adjust design parameters and optimize the installation process, significantly improving the reliability and service life of the device.

In addition, since the device achieves high-precision, full-field non-contact measurement, it avoids the errors and measurement blind spots that traditional measurement methods may introduce, providing an important reference for subsequent testing and quality control.
