Bovine Bone Compression Test on Machine Tool

DIC technologyNon-contact full-field strain measurement

DIC technology is a non-contact full-field strain measurement method that captures the minute deformation of the material surface during loading and generates high-precision strain distribution maps, making it particularly suitable for testing biomaterials with complex shapes.

In this experiment, Haytham DIC technology was used for full-field strain measurement of bovine bone specimens under compressive loading. Traditional point measurement methods can hardly reveal the complex strain distribution on the bone surface, whereas DIC technology obtains the complete strain field of the bovine bone during loading by comparing continuously captured images. The test results revealed the following key information:

1. Precise visualization of strain distribution: DIC technology captured the strain concentration in different regions of the bone during compression, especially at the articular surface and in regions where the internal bone structure is thin. The strain field showed that these regions may bear the greatest load and are prone to fracture or damage.

2. Evaluation of bone strength and durability: By analyzing the strain response of the bovine bone under different compression conditions, DIC technology helped researchers evaluate the mechanical property limits of the bone, including its compressive strength and elastic modulus. This provides valuable data support for the design of future bioimplant materials.
