Rebar Elongation After Fracture Measurement: A More Stable Vision-Based Solution

Elongation after fractureFracture testing

In rebar tensile testing, elongation after fracture is a key parameter of plasticity and ductility, and a core indicator in steel quality control and performance verification. In practice, test technicians often face a common problem: the rebar shakes violently at the instant of fracture, making the fracture location hard to identify precisely and affecting the stability and repeatability of results.

This is not an operator issue but an inherent limitation of conventional measurement in dynamic fracture scenarios: gauge points shift, fractures cannot be traced back, and manual reading is subjective — severely limiting test efficiency and data consistency.

To meet this challenge, Haytham has introduced apost-fracture elongation measurement solution based on visual measurement technology. Using force-decay signals and abrupt elongation changes, the system automatically identifies the moment of fracture, intelligently corrects the elastic deformation segment, and stably extracts key fracture positions, replacing manual operation and making test data more true and reliable.

The entire measurement process is contact-free, traceable, and automated. Even in complex scenarios with violent rebound or asymmetric fractures, it stably captures the marked point positions on both ends after fracture and supports synchronized extraction of multiple gauge lengths, ensuring accurate, consistent, and reproducible results.
