Full-Field Strain Measurement in Compression of Small Alloy Specimens

Video extensometer3D full-field strain measurement

In compression testing of small alloy specimens, limited specimen size and pronounced end effects make the strain distribution strongly non-uniform. Conventional contact extensometers or single-point methods struggle to accurately reflect the specimen's overall and local deformation states during compression, especially around yielding and instability when key information is easily missed. For this need, Haytham Technology'smonocular 3D video extensometer provides a stable, reliable non-contact solution for full-field strain measurement in compression of small alloy specimens.

Haytham's monocular3D video extensometer based on single-camera 3D reconstruction and DIC algorithms continuously observes surface deformation features to obtain 3D displacement and full-field strain during compression loading. Compared with conventional 2D or axial measurement, the system simultaneously reflects axial compression, lateral barreling, and local shear deformation, effectively identifying the influence of end friction, eccentric loading, and other factors on compression results.
