On the afternoon of May 30, 2024, the Koni Cup 3rd National UHPC Design and Customization Competition — hosted by the China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association, undertaken by the UHPC Branch, the Concrete Art Industry Innovation Working Committee, the Ready-mixed Concrete Branch and the Education and Human Resources Working Committee, and supported by Qingdao Koni Machinery Co., Ltd. — was held in Hall 4 of the Nanjing International Expo Center. Haytham Technology provided UHPC mechanical property testing equipment, technical support and event support for the competition.

With the theme of UHPC elastic ball design and customization, the competition required elastic balls to be designed and customized to specified dimensions and weight, and on-site elastic and lightweight high-strength performance tests were conducted with the Haytham single-camera 3D high-speed visual strain gauge. Based on analyzing the speckle pattern on the UHPC elastic ball surface, the Haytham high-speed visual strain gauge captures full-field data with high-speed cameras and analyzes full-field displacement and strain areas with DIC software — the data is intuitive, precise and visualized. For the analysis of high-speed events, one set of high-speed visual strain gauges is sufficient.

UHPC materials have three major advantages — high strength, high durability and high workability — with broad application prospects. However, due to large specimen size, thick sections and non-uniform surfaces, measuring their mechanical properties has long been an industry problem. Traditional displacement sensor measurement is not only bulky and complex to operate, but also difficult to arrange in proper positions, cannot guarantee data accuracy, and involves complex installation with unassured repeatability.
The emergence of Haytham Technology's DIC vision sensors has changed this situation. Using standardized DIC technology, Haytham measures UHPC deformation and strain in a non-contact way. With a full-field measurement module, full-field deformation and strain analysis based on full-field speckle is possible, revolutionizing traditional measurement methods in data accuracy and completeness, operational portability and more, providing a brand-new solution for UHPC mechanical property measurement.
