Nail penetration tests are used to simulate internal short-circuit scenarios of battery cells. The traditional approach often focuses on a single physical quantity such as temperature or displacement/strain, making it difficult to answer questions like "Where does the heat originate and how does it spread?" or "How does mechanical deformation interact with the temperature rise?". Haytham synchronously integrates DIC full-field strain measurement with infrared thermography and performs unified coordinate calibration, so that the temperature field and the strain/displacement field can be observed simultaneously in the same coordinate system and on the same timeline, extending the characterization capability from a single quantity to the coordinated analysis of multiple physical quantities.
In the nail penetration safety test,Haytham DICworks synchronously with infrared thermography, simultaneously recording the full-field deformation and temperature rise distribution of the battery casing. The results reveal the coupling between the short-circuit-induced mechanical response and thermal runaway, allowing the risk levels of locations such as the vicinity of the penetration point and the casing edges to be assessed, and providing a basis for cell structure and protection design.
