[New Release] Haytham Material Large-Deformation Measurement Solution | Vision Measurement Breaking Traditional Limits

Published: 2025-12-01

In mechanical testing of materials, the large-deformation stage often determines data completeness and conclusion credibility. When rubber, plastics or composites are stretched to several times their original length, traditional extensometers and strain gauges easily suffer measurement distortion due to contact constraints, range limits or environmental drift.

The Haytham material large-deformation measurement solution centers on vision measurement technology, achieving non-contact, continuous, high-precision deformation measurement through high-resolution imaging and image computation, providing reliable data support for high-strain testing under complex conditions.

New expectations: higher precision, closer distance, better integration

Non-contact measurement: preserving the specimen's true load state

Traditional mechanical extensometers easily introduce additional loads in high-strain or flexible material testing.

Haytham measurement system can precisely identify the displacement changes of specimen surface features without contact, avoiding load deviations caused by mechanical interference, allowing specimens to complete tests in their true load state.

Full-field measurement: acquiring richer deformation information

Strain gauges and contact extensometers usually provide only single-point or average values, unable to describe the non-uniform deformation behavior of materials.

The Haytham system computes full-field strain distribution and local concentration features; visualized data provides direct evidence for structural design and material optimization.

Flexible measurement: balancing multi-direction and multi-scale needs

Traditional test gauge lengths are fixed and measurement directions are single.

The Haytham system supports two modes — multi-gauge measurement and virtual strain gauge analysis — flexibly applied according to different experimental needs.

● Measurement direction and position can be flexibly defined, achieving axial and transverse multi-gauge measurement.

▍ Application case - rubber Poisson's ratio measurement

● Measurement lines or areas can also be freely selected in the image to compute the corresponding displacement and strain values, supporting post-processing or real-time analysis.

Condition compatibility: suitable for extreme test environments

In high-temperature, low-temperature or vacuum environments, traditional sensors often face drift, failure or bonding difficulties.

Haytham uses heat-resistant optical components and algorithm compensation mechanisms, working stably from -190℃ to 2600℃, adapting to furnace windows, environmental chambers, vacuum cavities and dynamic loading, achieving continuous measurement and reliable output.

Strain control: achieving high-precision closed-loop loading

In cyclic or fatigue tests, displacement control is prone to hysteresis or overshoot.

Haytham system can read the measured strain signal in real time as the feedback control quantity, achieving strain closed-loop loading and ensuring amplitude consistency and return-point accuracy during loading.

▍ Application case - rubber tensile strain-controlled test

When the strain reached 50%, 80%, 120% and 150%, the force returned to 0 respectively, with 4 cycles per stage, 12 in total; the stress-strain curve is highly consistent with the theoretical value and the loading control is stable.

Automation linkage: improving test consistency and efficiency

Haytham system can communicate quickly with the testing machine, achieving loading synchronization, automatic triggered acquisition and real-time computation. It can be integrated into laboratory automation and data management systems, improving efficiency while ensuring result consistency and traceability.
